Oh the Glamour

When I think of Glamour, I think of Old Hollywood (not to say current stars are not glamorous).. But the leading men and women of the really had an extra oomph to them that I don’t see as much these days. If you Google the word “Glamour” the first images that come are of actresses from the Hollywood Golden Age Era. Audrey Hepburn is one of my favorite actresses from that time period. I found some quotes by her that I wanted to share!

These quotes are about beauty.

“For attractive lips, Speak words of kindness.
For lovely eyes, Seek out the good in people.
For a slim figure, Share your food with the hungry.
For beautiful hair, Let a child run his/her fingers through it once a day.
For poise, Walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone.”

“People, even more than things,
Have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed,
And redeemed; never throw out anyone.
Remember, if you ever need a helping hand,
You will find one at the end of each of your arms.
As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands;
One for helping yourself, and the other for helping others.”

“The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It’s the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she shows and the beauty of a woman only grows with passing years.”

As a woman, I’ve always been into beauty, fashion, and style. I spend time making sure that I am always presentable and look my best. There is a verse in the Bible that I always remember – Proverbs 31:30 “Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.” Even if you are not a Christian, I think this is a great guideline. In the end our beauty is fleeting and no matter how many procedures or products you use, one day we will all be old and die. I use this verse just as a reminder that my looks are not everything, and there’s more important things in life.
